This is a story – so slippery at the edges that one wonders when and where it started and whether it will ever end.

This quote from Michel Rolph-Troillot was the basis for the GIBCA 2015 biennial curated by Elvira Dyangani Ose. The theme of A story within a story... raises questions on history writing, such as who writes history and whose stories are left out? How can more voices become part of the historical narrative and how may forgotten and silenced voices emerge from it? Within this framework, artists and artworks emphasize historical and sociopolitical events as well as personal narratives and memories. As the title suggests, there is always another story hiding within the one having just been told.

In conjunction with the biennale a book was published presenting essays expanding upon the subject matter. The book was edited by Elvira Dyangani Ose and designed by us.

Meta containers.

The title design acted as containers for the different narratives presented at each venue, utilizing the conceptual framework of the biennale itself.

The guide accompanying the biennale was produced as a newspaper and distributed all over the west region of Sweden.
